Terms, privacy & cookies.
The things a client is entitled to know before they engage us, written in the same plain language as everything else on this site.
Terms of business
Legal and regulatory work is carried out by regulated firms Metis instructs on the client's behalf.
Who we are
This website is operated by METIS CREATIVE AI LIMITED, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17423811, with its registered office at Goldsmith Building, Temple, London EC4Y 7BL, United Kingdom ("Metis", "we", "us"). Our China practice, Metis East , is operated by 上海钥言科技有限公司, registered in Shanghai, People's Republic of China. Each company contracts in its own name; your engagement letter will say which one you are contracting with.
What we do, and what we do not
Metis Creative AI is an AI-native company for UK–China market entry, with two proprietary products: Metis Avatar for conversation practice and Metis Studio for AI film production. Our founders in London and Shanghai combine these products with market-entry strategy, brand positioning and localisation, commercial partner checks and introductions in person.
We do not provide legal, accountancy, tax, audit, immigration, investment or other regulated advice, and nothing on this website or in our materials should be treated as such advice. Where an engagement requires regulated work, we identify suitable regulated firms, put them forward, and - with your agreement - instruct and coordinate them on your behalf. Those firms contract with you directly, are responsible for their own advice, and carry their own professional indemnity insurance.
Introductions and due diligence
Before we introduce a partner, adviser or counterparty, we carry out proportionate commercial due diligence - standing, ownership, track record and fit - and we tell you what we found before you meet them. That is a commercial assessment, not a legal, financial or regulatory opinion, and it is not a warranty as to any third party's performance. The decision to appoint or transact with anyone we introduce is yours.
We charge a fee for coordination only. We do not take a margin on a regulated firm's work, and we do not take a commission, referral fee or success fee on any deal we introduce.
Fees and third-party costs
Fees are quoted per engagement in a written proposal and confirmed in an engagement letter. Published figures are starting points, not quotations. Fees exclude third-party costs - regulated firms' fees, government and registry charges, media and distribution budgets, distributor margins, translation and travel - which are billed to you directly by the supplier concerned. Where you move up a tier within six months, everything already paid is credited in full against the higher tier and you pay the difference; after six months, half carries over.
Metis Avatar subscriptions
Metis Avatar is charged as a monthly subscription. You can choose automatic renewal or manual renewal; automatic renewal is enabled only if you opt in. You may cancel at any time by emailing hello@metiscreative.ai. Cancellation stops future renewals, and your access continues until the end of the monthly billing period you have already paid for. Ordinary mid-month cancellation does not receive a pro-rata refund. This does not affect any cancellation or refund rights required by applicable law.
Individual customers
Individuals can contact hello@metiscreative.ai to discuss a suitable plan. We confirm the offer, total price and applicable terms with you before you commit; our IT team then arranges your account setup. Where you buy as a consumer, your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, where applicable, are preserved. We provide the applicable cancellation information before you accept. A request to start a service during a statutory cooling-off period is handled separately from acceptance of these terms.
Timing
We give an indicative schedule in each proposal. Because our production runs on our own systems, our part of an engagement typically moves in days rather than weeks. Filings, regulators, banks, licensing bodies and other third parties move at their own pace, and their timescales are outside our control. Indicative dates are estimates given in good faith and are not contractual commitments unless expressly stated as such in an engagement letter.
Intellectual property
On project completion, intellectual property in the commissioned client deliverables is transferred to the client in accordance with the signed engagement letter. We assign the rights we own and are entitled to transfer, and provide the agreed commercial licences for any elements that cannot be assigned. Metis retains its pre-existing products, methods, tools and production systems unless expressly agreed otherwise. Subscription access to Metis Avatar is separate from ownership of completed client deliverables. The contents of this website are © 2026 METIS CREATIVE AI LIMITED.
Confidentiality and AI production
Client documents, brand assets and staff imagery are held under written confidentiality terms and are not used to train any model. We will tell you in writing, before you commit, what material reaches our production pipeline. On project completion, client working materials are returned or deleted in accordance with the engagement letter; material needed for an ongoing service is held only for that agreed purpose and period. We retain only the limited records required by applicable law. We agree the relevant AI-production disclosures with you.
Liability
Liability, payment, termination, changes to scope and the detailed rights and obligations for each engagement are set out in the signed engagement letter. Nothing in these terms or an engagement letter excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded, or takes away mandatory consumer rights.
Governing law
These terms and any engagement with METIS CREATIVE AI LIMITED are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. Engagements contracted with 上海钥言科技有限公司 are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China. The signed engagement letter prevails over these general terms if there is a conflict, subject to mandatory law and any consumer rights that cannot be excluded.
Privacy notice
Who controls your data
For enquiries made through this website and for UK engagements, the data controller is METIS CREATIVE AI LIMITED (company number 17423811), Goldsmith Building, Temple, London EC4Y 7BL, United Kingdom. For engagements contracted in China, the controller is 上海钥言科技有限公司, Unit 1204, Binjiang Vanke Centre, 118 Minsheng Road, Pudong New Area, Shanghai, China (上海市浦东新区民生路118号滨江万科中心1204). Schools and under-18 learners
We will comply with the data-protection and privacy requirements applicable to our services, including those protecting under-18 learners. In the United Kingdom, these include the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, as amended including by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, and the ICO Children’s Code where it applies.
In the People’s Republic of China, relevant requirements include the Personal Information Protection Law, the Law on the Protection of Minors, the Regulations on the Protection of Minors in Cyberspace and the Provisions on the Cyber Protection of Children’s Personal Information, where applicable. PRC law includes specific protections for personal information about children under 14, including parental or guardian consent where required.
For school use, the institution’s and Metis’s processing responsibilities, learner information and any required authorisations or processing agreements are confirmed before learner personal information is processed. These legal commitments do not replace the service-specific information given to the institution and learners.
What we collect
- What you type into the enquiry form: your name, work email, company and what you are looking for, plus anything you write in the message field.
- Correspondence you send us by email or messaging, and notes we take about a prospective or live engagement.
- Standard server logs kept by our hosting provider, including IP address and browser type, for security and to keep the site running.
We do not run advertising or analytics tracking on this site, we do not build behavioural profiles, and we do not buy or sell contact lists.
Why we use it, and on what basis
We use your information to answer your enquiry, to prepare and deliver proposals and engagements, to make and manage the introductions you ask for, and to meet our own legal, tax and record-keeping obligations. Our lawful bases are that processing is necessary to take steps at your request before entering a contract, to perform a contract, to comply with a legal obligation, or for our legitimate interests in running and defending our business. Where we rely on consent - for example to pass your details to a partner we are introducing - you can withdraw it at any time.
Who we share it with
We share your information with our hosting and form provider, our email and document providers, our accountants and professional advisers, and - only with your agreement, and on a need-to-know basis - with the regulated firms and partners engaged on your project. We do not otherwise disclose it, except where the law requires it.
Data hosting, access and international transfers
For clients contracting as Chinese entities, Alibaba Cloud is our default hosting provider unless another deployment is agreed in writing. At your request, we can arrange deployment in your own cloud environment or locally on your premises. Local deployment is subject to separately quoted additional costs.
For European-based clients, including clients in the United Kingdom and European Union, Amazon Web Services (AWS) is our default hosting provider. Client data is stored in agreed UK or EU regions and remains within the UK/EU. We do not permit access to that data from China, including access by staff, support teams or service providers. Local deployment within the UK/EU can be arranged on request at a separately quoted additional cost.
Before client data is processed, the engagement letter or applicable data-processing agreement records the hosting region, authorised access locations and service providers, including arrangements for backups, support and any third-party processing. These arrangements must respect the restrictions above and applicable data-protection requirements, including UK GDPR, EU GDPR and the PRC Personal Information Protection Law where applicable. Any permitted international transfer must meet the applicable legal requirements and be covered by the required safeguards.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become engagements are deleted within twenty-four months. Client working materials are returned or deleted on project completion, except where needed for an agreed ongoing service. Only the minimum contractual, tax and financial records required by applicable law are retained, for the applicable period. Learner and service-content retention periods are agreed for the relevant service.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you may ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or ask us to restrict how we use it, ask for it in a portable form, and withdraw any consent you have given. Individuals in China have equivalent rights under the Personal Information Protection Law. Write to hello@metiscreative.ai and we will respond within one month. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookie policy
The short version
This site sets no advertising cookies, no analytics cookies and no tracking cookies. There is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to.
What the site does store
- Session storage. One item,
metis-seen, is kept in your browser's session storage so the opening animation does not replay every time you move between pages. It is deleted when you close the tab, it is not a cookie, and it is never sent to us. - Nothing else. No identifiers, no preferences, no history.
Third parties who see your request
- Google Fonts. Typefaces are loaded from Google's servers, so Google receives your IP address and browser details as part of that request. Google's privacy policy applies to what it does with them.
- Our host. Serving the page necessarily means our hosting provider processes your IP address, and it keeps short-lived server logs for security.
- Form submissions. If you send the enquiry form, our forms provider may set a short-lived cookie to guard against spam. That is the only cookie this site can cause to be set, and only if you submit the form.
Controlling this
You can block or clear storage for this site in your browser settings at any time. The only effect is that the opening animation will replay. If we later add analytics, we will add a consent banner first and update this page before anything is set.
